absenteeism

Back to old blogging patterns. As in, never blogging.

But really, life comes first. Period.

I’ve been going nuts with school as of late, and with personal issues as the icing on the cake. But, when you confront things head on they’re resolved, one way or another.

The boyfriend and I are on a good path again. In one week we brought up what felt like every single one of our issues, and while it caused a lot of tears and pain we’re stronger and better off for it.

Dating someone with limited time is difficult, and I think we’re both still learning how to adapt to that. He’s busy with his job, and I’m busy with work and school. Blah, blah, blah, we’re all busy. Get over it, move on.

I got my Spanish exam back, and managed an 88. I’m still having minor issues with sentence structure, but considering the circumstances under which I wrote the test, I’m extremely impressed with that mark. I think it will just keep getting better and better from here.

On a related note, I have three days off from work; Thursday, Friday and Monday. I intend to relax and get my bearings back, which will be crucial to surviving the rest of this semester.

Hopefully I can study for my Spanish quiz and oral conversation on Thursday, and then just enjoy myself. I’d like to go shopping for some more work/casual clothes. I love finding shirts that are work/play appropriate. Very different style from my old band t-shirt and jeans combination. That’s now reserved for the weekends exclusively.

I also love funky jewelry. My parents brought me back these pieces from Cuba:

This ring used to be the head of a spoon

This bracelet used to be a fork

Maybe with all that free time I’ll put down my credit cards long enough to blog again! Twice in one week, is it possible?

on the mend

Okay, feeling better than I was on Tuesday.

Tuesday was a bad day…

But, I’m over the mid-week hump so now it’s just a slide right into the weekend!

In keeping with the new attitude, let’s come up with some exciting and happy things about this week…

Hmm. Well.

I bought tickets to see one of my favourite artists on Monday. He’s playing in my hometown, so I’ll be able to see my family at the same time, which makes me very happy. I usually go home about once a month, but it’s been about a month now and it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to go home until the show, another month away. So I know it will feel good to roll into the city.

In addition to the excitement of the show, my uncle will be in town! I almost never see him because he lives in Surrey, and my family doesn’t go back to British Columbia very often anymore (well, not at all really). I last saw him in February when I went to Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics, and he and his whole family were such gracious hosts. I’m hoping I can take everyone out to dinner when I’m in the city to try to repay my family for all the wonderful things they’ve done for me the years I’ve been in university.

There’s also a Halloween party this weekend, at my cousin’s house. I have only one cousin in southern Alberta, and I don’t see her often; she has two kids and a busy schedule. It will be nice to catch up.

I only have one more class this week (tonight) and I should get my test back as well. Good or bad, I just want to know the mark! It will also help me to know what to study more next time. I think I focused too much on straight vocabulary this time when my grammar needed work.

Work has been going well and I’m feeling like a real contributor to the communications efforts here.

That’s about it…will hopefully post more this weekend.
