I’m in Edmonton for the weekend; I had bought tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers here before I knew that we were moving to Calgary. And holy crap, the show was amazing! Because they played a double booking here — Wednesday and Thursday — the set lists were completely different. So, for the Thursday show, here’s what they played:
- Monarchy of Roses
- Dani California
- Can’t Stop
- Parallel Universe
- Tell Me Baby
- I Could Have Lied
- The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie
- Higher Ground
- Right on Time
- Under the Bridge
- Factory of Faith
- By the Way
The show was inCREDIBLE! The fact that they played I Could Have Lied, made me swoon. All the feelings that I described while writing my tattoo post came out in spades, and I couldn’t have asked for a better show.
I love coming to visit my family in Edmonton, because it’s so relaxing. I try to see as many friends and people as I can while I’m here, but beyond that I don’t need to worry about anything. There’s no worrying about prepping meals, cleaning (beyond cleaning up after myself, of course), etc. After the weekend in Victoria, I needed some downtime and this is just what the doctor ordered. I’m so lucky to have the family that I do! My brother bought me lunch this trip, and last night my mom took us out to dinner. And it was all gluten free! My mother made sure of that at dinner last night, as they brought out my steak sandwich with the bread and the fried onions on top of my mashed potatoes (despite me asking for them to not add those). She said it was an allergy, it was celiac, and they’d have to take it back and fix it.
For some reason, hearing that come out of my mom’s mouth made me realize I need to be more assertive in restaurants as well. I don’t know if that would have been enough to make me sick, but why chance it? And if I asked for it to come without those details, why should I take the chance on a bad night because they didn’t get the order right? Strange that someone else needed to stand up for me so that I could figure this out.
It’s been snowing all morning, and I’m having a great quiet morning with my coffee and my blog. I love this lazy mornings, with the dogs and some music or the TV in the background. And the best part? It’s still only Saturday. I have one more day of this tomorrow before I start the drive back to Calgary.
Ahhhhhhh. I can feel my stress melting away
