mondays just suck

And if anyone tries to tell you otherwise, you know they’re lying through their teeth.

Sure, it’s the start of the week and full of new opportunity, blah blah blah. But I still fall much more often into the Garfield way of thinking. Mondays and I have never really gotten along, and I’m feeling kind of funky on this one in particular.

I hate Mondays

It could have something to do with the move (Saturday is the day. Oh my GOD there’s still so much left to do!!), or it could be the week I had last week (good but oh-so stressful). Either way, this Monday in particular has me feeling like a bag of wretchedness.

So I did what any sane person would do: went to the drugstore to get packing tape and pens. Wait, what? Those two things don’t snap you out of funks? Then what the heck do you do??

Anyways. I decided that a nice walk on my lunch break might snap my funkalicious mood, so off I trotted. On the way I ran into this:

There are no words.

So I have my tape and my boxes and have now officially packed one box (of the hundreds that need to be packed). That may or may not turn into the plan for tonight: watch MasterChef, Hell’s Kitchen, and pack like a madwoman.

I know Thomas is working really, really hard at the new kitchen and his hours are insane, but this is the point where I become jealous of him. He’s in Calgary, and therefore, will pack a lot less. He’s coming down Friday to help me (because I truly am hopeless) but the bulk of the packing will be left up to me. Great.

At least the majority of the little details are taken care of. I have the utilities sorted out, bought another cat carrier for the little cat (and she willingly hopped into it when I brought it in!), and the aforementioned packing tape and boxes.  Small steps…

In between moving cities I need to start planning for BlogHer. I have nothing but my flights and accommodations sorted out so far. There’s a restaurant called Ninja that I want to try (but can’t find anyone who wants to go! Haven’t asked many people though) and of course I want to see Central Park. I’d also like to do a dorky touristy television tour and see the brownstone from SaTC, the street corner from Friends (even though they shot in LA), and MacLarens from HIMYM.

One thing I have learned though is that no matter how much you plan, things will unfold as they’re meant to unfold. I’m a planner by nature, so at least I can say I’ve done my best to prepare!

  1. This post is very relevant to me, as I had 3 large trays fall off of a shelf, hitting me in the face, pouring hot miso all over me. Not 15 minutes later, my boss witnesses me breaking 3 tear-drop plates that slid off of a tray. His only response to witnessing all of this was “Fucking Mondays”.
