I might be booking a Mexico trip with my girlfriends this week, so in the meantime I’m checking out all the vacations packages and sites that I can to try to make sure we get a good deal. There are so many websites that can help with this now, and here is a vacation package site that I’m particularly enjoying — Expedia! Cancun et al seems to be the least expensive with the highest star number, so I’ll probably end up going with one of those deals. Not looking for anything too swanky, but something close to the city/beach with stuff to do on and off resort are all major requirements.
I think it’s the time of year that has me anxious to book a trip. Calgary has notoriously long winters, and I’m just so done with it by this time of year. I had the opportunity to go on vacation with my family in January, but they booked late last year when I wasn’t financially able to commit. With a larger-than-expected tax return that hit my account at the end of February, the timing of this proposed trip couldn’t be better. I have about half of what I need to pay for the trip, and can save up the other half in a few months.
I adore this blog post/article from Get In the Hot Spot where Annabel describes why people love to travel. I’m inclined to agree with all of her points, and reading them just strikes a chord with me on why I’m itching to pick up and go. The one point I would add to her list is to escape an inhospitable climate! It’s currently March 18 and it’s snowing outside my window. This crap shows no signs of letting up before April, and let me remind you all that there’s no such thing as “snow days” in Canada. It may be stupid, but we struggle on and get to work/school no matter the conditions; an office or school will never call a “snow day.”
Any other suggestions for places to go in Mexico, for a 7-day all inclusive trip in early May? Looking to keep it to around $1,200 if possible!
