This week has been pretty chill — not a lot going on, and it was full of great work and times with friends.
Not like the Horrible Awful day from a few weeks ago, the one I think I forgot to write about. I forgot my camera at home when it needed to be at work, was running late, found out I have zero ortho coverage through work (shortly after getting braces put on), and got a flat tire all in the span of about 5 hours. It was a lot to take in, to say the least.
I solved the mood issue by going home and nomming some pizza (despite protests from my still-sore mouth) and having some delicious gluten-free beer.
I bring this day up only because I’m still trying to deal with the fall out. I’m still waiting for my orthodontic receipt to be reimbursed through my government program, and just this morning I took my car in to the shop to have the tire fixed. I was first in line, dropped my keys, and was told there’d be no charge because that’s where I originally bought the tires (Canadian Tire, for anyone interested).
So, I hopped on transit to get my butt into work, smugly thinking I’d even be early. On a Friday! This was practically unheard of.
Then I got a phone call while I was on the train. “Wow, you guys *are* fast! Maybe I should have just waited there!” “No, not quite…” my very no-nonsense mechanic told me. “Your tire is irreparable, and the other one is looking like it’s about to go. I’d recommend getting two new tires, but you for sure need one.”
So my free patch is now a $260 replacement.
But, cars need tires I’m told! And at least Fred (my car, remember?) will be in tip-top condition to drive to Edmonton this weekend. I have another ortho appointment on Monday to switch the clear brackets (ie, Breaky McBreakerson brackets — 6 in the last month) for metal ones that will be more sturdy. The highway was INSANE yesterday, so now is not the time to be taking chances on sub-par tires.
How’s everyone else’s Friday?
