It’s Lucky 13

It’s 2013! And we shall all spend the next two weeks trying to remember to write ’13 instead of ’12 on our documents and correspondence.

As is customary for the first blog post of a new year, I’ll wrap up the holidays and then try to sum up what my resolutions are for 2013 (because I do make resolutions ). However, my stomach is rumbling and gurgling after ingesting not one, but two beers and a slice of whole wheat toast earlier this evening, so I don’t know how long this’ll be. I got my dates mixed up in my head (but thankfully, written down correctly in my calendar) and my celiac blood test is tomorrow. Because I like to do things the hardest way possible — and also backwards — I gave up gluten before going for a blood test, so now I have to get some back into my system so my body can produce the antibodies (or not, if I’m not celiac).

Thomas got me an amazing gift, and replaced my little iPod nano with a shiny new black iPod classic. All of my music now fits on one device, and I have SO much room to store more if I so desire.

Thomas’ sister got me this awesome tea diffuser and I love him:

Seriously, even the instructions are awesome: “Take off Mr. Tea’s pants. Fill pants with tea.”

Other notable gifts include a glass teapot and tealight warmer from Thomas’ mom, and a wicked heated blanket from my parents, as well as some great clothes (including a new sweater that I’m head over heels for). This year was so incredible, and in spite of catching some kind of gross stomach bug (Thomas was sick Dec 23-Dec 26/7, I was sick from the 26th-28th) the holidays were a big hit. Thank you to all my friends and family for the gifts, cards, and love!

I haven’t hammered out my resolutions for the year yet, so that will be another post for another day. I take it seriously, so I want to weigh what I’m hoping to accomplish against what I need to do it, and how possible it is to complete.

I think I lost my mind, because I agreed to try and write a blog post every day this year (thanks Catie). Many, I’m sure, will be hastily tapped out on my phone at the last possible minute, but I’ll do my best and we’ll see where we end up.
