finally back in Canada. Oh yeah, and it snows a lot.

It’s not me that’s finally back in Canada; sadly, I have not yet left the country in 2013. It’s my neighbour/friend-lady who is finally back from holidays in Arizona. I blame her entirely for the deluge of snow currently following. This is what Mother Nature thinks is fun to greet people with after vacations.

But I’m stoked to have my friend and drinking buddy back! She’s been gone since before Christmas, but now I have my night widow back.

Superstore brand red rouge wine

That’s her in the background, behind our classy-as-shit Red Rouge wine (rouge because, you know, we’re Canadian. We’re fancy and stuff, and also because things also have to be printed in both languages here). But these are the kinds of shenanigans that we get up to in her townhouse. Tonight will probably be no different (though Kelsey has sworn off drinking Red Rouge ever again). I have strict instructions to be there at 5:37pm on the dot. Never mind that I get off work at 5:30 and there’s a snowstorm going on (see first photo). There’s wine to be consumed! Punctuality is clearly of the utmost importance.

And yes, you are correct: it is only Thursday. For some reason, most of our antics take place during the week, then we recover over the weekend. SO BACKWARD.

WordPress isn’t as flawless as I naively used to believe! I tried to email a blog post in from my phone last night, as I was visiting with friends. The sucker DIDN’T POST, so it looks like a missed a day.

I am refuting this claim. So here’s a screen shot of my lame blog post, and I’m dating the entry as the time of the email. You know, when it was SUPPOSED to go out.

Take that, WordPress!

a great weekend to start the year

This was, as the title states, a great weekend.

Friday night, Thomas and I hosted a few friends and had a mini-party. Rum was consumed, white cheddar popcorn (or Crack Corn, according to Erin, Thomas’ sister. I’m inclined to agree!) was eaten, and I think a good time was had by all.

Thomas was off on a weekend for the first time in a long time, so we had a date night on Saturday. We saw Les Miserables in a matinee, and then headed out for dinner afterward. The movie was freaking incredible, and even if you’re not a fan of musicals, it’s worth checking out. The singing took me about 30 minutes to really get used to, but then Anne Hathaway totally stole the show with her song. That’s when I really fell in love with the movie. After dinner, Thomas went home to have some time with his brother who came to our place, and I went to my boss’ party.

The party was awesome! So much food everywhere, and the Xbox Kinect was busted out and a dance party ensued. I now have some pretty hilarious videos if I should ever need to bust it out.

However, something I ate yesterday was just not agreeing with me. Today was filled with an upset stomach and bloated guts, and now that I know I have a delayed reaction to wheat it could have been anything over the last day or two. Sigh. If I knew what was doing this to me, I’d avoid it! (Other than wheat, that is.)

Books from the library that I picked up today.

I’ve already finished the first book on top

I picked up some library books this afternoon, and then had a friend over for tea, dinner and a movie. Definitely a solid and relaxing Sunday.

I also took some more photos of the city and our cats — my two favourite subjects.
